Customer Reviews & Ratings
Went there the second time for takeout and ordered the roasted duck set meal with jade noodles again. The $25 portion says it feeds one but actually feeds two, while the $35 that feeds two actually feeds 3-4 (if you make your own rice at home.) Service was great and the food was authentic. Would recommend 10/10
Love this style of Roasted Duck! and the duck sauce that comes with it. Thai Papaya Salad, got the mild, it was standard and good! I couldn't handle the spiciness of the Duck Curry! so beware non-spice-tolerant people! The Roasted Duck Medium Set was for two people, so we ordered one more duck over rice. Service was relatively fast! The ambiance is like mom & pop. This place is better for small parties. They do combine tables for four people and they have bar seating. Parking is tight, and usually full, came here on a Wednesday night
Expect to wait, with 5 four person tables available and limited counter seating. We waited 30 minutes with 2 groups ahead of us. Sitting indoors may feel more cramped because of the smaller space. They ran out of roasted duck by late afternoon on a Saturday. For three people, we got the roasted duck special and duck egg noodles. The duck is tender and flavorful. The noodle soup comes with 3-4 pieces of duck and has a mildly spicy broth.
This was our first time trying out roasted duck Thai style! We eat a loooot of Chinese style roasted duck. We tried the roasted duck noodles and the spicy basil duck rice dish. Booooooooooooy, I cannot handle Thai spiciness. We went for mild for the basil duck and I was struggling!! Despite the burn (and regrets when it comes out the other end), we really liked the basil duck. The roasted duck noodles felt comparable to Chinese style, albeit a bit sweeter in taste. It is a bit pricey for the portion size (both dishes are $17 each), but deboned duck is luxury food!!! The place is super small and cramped - best for parties of 2, I would say 3 people is almost pushing it. The 3 of us came for a late lunch on a Sunday and the wait was ~10 min. Food comes out fast! I don't think there is a public bathroom. Bring your own water because it ain't free (they sell bottled water). Takes credit card. The staff working there are super nice! Parking: very small strip mall parking lot shared with other business. Street parking is your best bet. We parked on Franklin/Winona and walked a few blocks to the restaurant.
I have been wanting to try this for awhile so very glad to have finally made it. Showed up on a Saturday at about 1:30 pm and there was a 15 minute wait. The place is very small with a bit of outside seating. Parking is minimal but available on the street as well. Service was very friendly and efficient. As it was our first time, we ordered the duck special for 2 with jade noodles and the pork belly appetizer. All the dishes were well made and homey. The duck was moist and served in a sauce of its own juices, but came with 2 additional sauces. The jade noodles were a nice accompaniment with the duck and sauces, though did not have much flavor on their own. The pork belly was a must order dish! Really a thin, lean boneless pork chop, seasoned beautifully and deep fried to perfection. So glad we tried that one. We sat outside on a lovely day and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Our server could not have been friendlier. We had not had these dishes before, nor were we familiar with them. So glad we tried.
Food exceeded expectations. Dining room was ragged. But don't let that influence your decision to eat here. The Roast Duck is absolutely excellent. That Spicy Basil Duck, the same. 5 people working in a 10'x5' dining room, and every single one of them was smiling. Don't come with more than two people, as you won't be able to sit together, but if you are a solo diner, or you and your significant other like to try off-the-beaten-path places, this just might become your new favorite. For foodies, for sure. Five stars for the food!
From start to finish, I loved my experience at Roasted Duck by Pa Ord. This is a restaurant that had been on my radar for a while, having heard rave reviews both online and from friends who had been. While this particular spot is relatively new (I believe they opened less than a year ago), Pa Ord Noodle just a few blocks away (same team/sibling restaurant) is a legendary spot regarded as one of the best Thai restaurants in Thai Town. I couldn't wait to give this place a try. On a Sunday around 12:30pm, the wait to eat was ~15 minutes. This restaurant is truly tiny, with a constant flow of customers waiting for a table. I would not recommend coming here with a group larger than ~4-6 people given the limited seating. The menu is filled with lots of great options. I decided on the Roasted Duck Noodle (priced at $17) and was not disappointed. Service was quick and friendly, and the food was VERY delicious and flavorful. I loved the broth, the noodles, and the roast duck! I would definitely order this item again. If looking for a top notch Thai restaurant in Los Angeles, I'd highly encourage you to check this place out. The space itself is a little small and cramped, but the food is phenomenal.
The place is very small, meant for groups of 2 to 3 people per table. Our family of 4 sat at the counter. We came because of the name Roasted Duck, and the high reviews. We like places that specializes and therefore excel at specific things. ORDERED: 2 person portions of Roasted Duck - tender, flavorful, not too much fat; winner. Pad See Ew - Yummy wok stir fried noodle with meat and veggies Thai Crab Roll - Tried something new but not a fan of this one.
